Breast Reconstruction
For women who have lost one or both breasts to breast cancer or who lack breasts due to a congenital abnormality, breast reconstruction restores a natural, symmetrical appearance to the chest and boosts self-confidence. A new breast, nipple, and areola complex are reconstructed to resemble the woman's natural breast as closely as possible in shape, size and position. This may be performed utilizing a variety of techniques including breast implants, tissue expanders, and/or patients own native tissue such as the abdomen (TRAM flap) or back (Latissmus flap) areas. Lumpectomy defects can also be reconstructed with local tissue flaps or symmetry can be restored by reducing the opposite breast. Breast reconstruction is a highly personal and individualized process that requires extensive consultation.
