Welcome to my brand new blog! As a practitioner within this wide-ranging world of plastic surgery and cosmetic miracles, my goal is to not only inform you, but also give you enough information to help you make decisions about moving forward with a given procedure you may be facing or even contemplating. This is where I hope to enlighten you as to each and every procedure I do as well as offer some insight into the kinds of results you can expect. I will discuss my own expertise and experiences along with featuring stories my clients are eager to tell as well. But first a little about me. It was way back in middle school when I dreamed of combining my artistic ability with my love of science to help others have a better quality of life. Here is where I happily landed — doing breast reconstructions, mommy make-overs, blepharoplasty and a number of other corrective and aesthetic procedures. Born and brought up in Sacramento, I completed my undergraduate studies at University of California at [...]
As Ultherapy has gained popularity as the best non-invasive treatment, the question we hear is what is the difference between Ultherapy and a face lift? Ultherapy: Ultherapy uses focused ultrasonic waves to the deepest layers of the skin to counteract the effects of aging and can be completed in under an hour, with no downtime. It’s a great option for patients who want to tighten and rejuvenate skin, but are hesitant to undergo an elective surgery. Ultherapy can take several months to see the end result and we recommend a follow-up treatment in 18-24 months for optimal results.Ultherapy does not duplicate the results of a facelift, but it can help you achieve a more rested and youthful appearance, which may be enough to accomplish your facial aesthetic goals. It is a wonderful option for people who want to tighten and rejuvenate their appearance but are hesitant to undergo an elective surgery. Face Lift: Patients wanting more significant changes, such as the correction of greater skin laxity or deeper wrinkles, may benefit from a [...]

Dr. Cindy Goodman and Kristen Geisler Vasquez recently hosted a fundraiser in Tiburon for the Dec My Room at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. This program is run by volunteers who help decorate the rooms of pediatric patients who have an extended hospital stay of three weeks or longer. The rooms are decorated with knowledge of the personal likes and interests of each individual, transforming their hospital room into a more personalized healing space. Much gratitude also to Debbie Cohen for organizing, and to Beth Merritt Walker, Julia Knight, Tate Holtand Dino Anderson for volunteering their services. This event raised over $5,000 for Dec My Room - which will provide 17 pediatric patients at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital with comforting and personalized rooms. More information about this National Program can be found here.

As a longtime supporter of Stepping Out to Celebrate Life, Dr. Cynthia Goodman has been an escort for breast cancer survivors on the runway at the gala fundraiser since 2002 and has supported the event for 14 years. Last year, this event helped provide $300,000 to grant programs serving underserved women and men living with breast cancer in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was an escort again this year on September 24th at Marin Civic Center. As a one of the premier plastic surgeons in Marin who performs multiple breast reconstructions a year, Dr. Cynthia Goodman understands how important it is for women to feel whole again after facing a breast cancer diagnosis. There are many options available whether a patient has had a mastectomy or lumpectomy. During reconstruction, Dr. Goodman creates a breast shape using an artificial implant (implant reconstruction), a flap of tissue from another place on your body (autologous reconstruction), or both. The final results of breast reconstruction following mastectomy can help lessen [...]

Breast reduction surgery can alleviate the difficulties related to oversize breasts, specifically neck, shoulder, or back pain; the pain of bra straps digging into the shoulders; and limitations in physical activity. But you should be aware that breast reduction surgery is considered a reconstructive procedure, which means a fairly involved operation. The incisions used, and the resulting scarring, depend upon the technique used. Breast reduction incisions can be as small as a line around the areola and one running midline down the inferior aspect of the breast. Or as large as an anchor-shaped line that runs vertically down from the nipple-areola-complex and across the fold under the breast. A breast reduction is often done in combination with liposuction of the axillary region. In select cases, breast reduction can be performed with liposuction alone. This will not raise the position of your nipple as much as the conventional surgery, but it will decrease the volume of your breast with only two tiny incisions under breast that almost imperceptible. Of all reconstructive surgery patients, women who have [...]
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults. By targeting one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years – Dr. Goodman will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of lines and wrinkles. Learn about post-procedure care here.
